At Jeroccia Coffee we highlight our work promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment throughout the coffee value chain. Women play an essential role in our coffee value chain –they account for up to 95% of the labor in coffee production, from the farm level, to the cooperative level, to the processing level. In Ethiopia , women face significant barriers to their equal participation, such as less access to land, capital, and technical information. Jerrocia works to improve the lives of women in coffee in the community and increase their self reliance and improve their incomes. In doing so, these women are able to take ownership of their economic situation and invest in their family’s health and education, improving outcomes for entire communities. We also sponsor qualified teachers to join Arbegona Elementary School which is a community school providing education to 2,000 Students. We believe this students indirectly support their family and community in the long run and become professionals. In addition as giving back to the community we provide modern coffee business/coffee testing and coffee quality awarness trainings to interested young members of the local community during weekends and holiday break time.
At Jeroccia Coffee we make sure all our activities in the farm comply to protect our environment and community we serve. Our farm is located adjacent to magnificent river called “Logita” and we took measures to organically certify the farm and all process to protect and conserve the lake. In view of our ambition to create sustainable and environmentally friendly business we are working on planting trees, production of organic honey, and soil conservation.
